The two postage stamps will be issued in relation with winter season. One of them featuring a Christmas view will be intended for sending in Lithuania. It features a festive morning and can be used for cross-border items, writesLETA/ELTA.
The author of the both stamps is the artist Vilius Brucas. The stamp intended for domestic items will be released in the edition of 700 000 copies, and the edition of the second stamp is 200 000 copies.
The first day cover and sheet will be issued along with the stamps. On Saturday in Vilnius Main Post Office all correspondence items paid by the new stamps will be marked by the first day cancellation.
Stamps dedicated to Christmas have been issued in Lithuania since 1994. The author of the first stamp named Holy Christmas is the artist Ieva Naciulyte. The stamp with the nominal value of 20 centas depicted the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus in the background of the Three Crosses in Vilnius. This stamp was issued in the edition of 500 000 copies.
