20th anniversary of Monaco's entry into the United Nations
The Principality of Monaco became an observer member of the United Nations in 1956 and a full member on 28th May 1993. On its entry, Prince Rainier III appointed His Son, H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Albert, as Chief of Delegation. Today, H.S.H. Prince Albert II still closely follows the works of the UN and regularly participates in its high level debates. Monaco's international priorities focus on the issues of protecting human rights and especially the rights of the child and women, the protection and preservation of the oceans, sustainable development and health.
