ROYAL MAIL MARKS THE THAILAND 2013 WORLD STAMP EXHIBITION
·        The Thailand 2013 World Stamp Exhibition is being held in Bangkok, Thailand, and Royal Mail is celebrating this with a Exhibition Sheet of stamps
·        The sheet features 20 iconic images celebrating the city of Bangkok, alongside 20 1st Class stamps
·         The sheet will be available from August 2nd at the exhibition itself, from www.royalmail.com/thailand2013, in main UK Post Offices and by phone on 08457 641 641
 
Royal Mail is celebrating the Thailand 2013 World Stamp Exhibition with an Exhibition Sheet of stamps. The exhibition, which is being held at The Royal Paragon Hall in Bangkok, Thailand, takes place between 2nd and 14th August, with the stamps being available to purchase on the day the show commences.
 
The Exhibition Stamps will have 20 different images featuring some of Bangkok’s famous buildings, locations and people, helping to capture the city’s unique spirit. These images feature alongside 20 ‘Hello’ definitive sized 1st Class stamps and the sheet will feature the show’s logo as well a ‘Hello from Royal Mail’ greeting in Thai. These are the same stamps as used on the Indipex, Philanippon and Jakarta sheets.
 
Some of the 20 iconic images chosen to feature on the stamp sheet include The Royal Paragon Hall itself, a Buddhist monk, works in a rice paddy, Ang Thong National Marine Park and a floating market.
 
The Thailand 2013 World Stamp Exhibition is being held in collaboration with the Philatelists Association of Thailand, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The exhibition will commemorate the 130th anniversary of Thai postage stamps and the establishment of the Thai postal service.
 
Andrew Hammond, Royal Mail Stamps spokesperson, said: “Thailand 2013 is set to be a fantastic event, undoubtedly one of the highlights of a year in philately. We are delighted to commemorate the occasion with this special sheet of stamps. As they will be available to purchase from the exhibition itself, they will serve as a great memento for collectors of all ages.”
