<p align=justify>
Surely, those who read us, will find it difficult to locate this small island on the map; personally it brings me back to my happy childhood when, on long winter nights, in the heat of the brazier and the camilla table, when the cold was pressing, the family troupe would group in the room to follow what came out of the Philips [I was struck by its magical eye] thanks to the cable that started in the Alley of the Vine and, after crossing the house, went to the corral and then fell down the Pit of the Rocks: those homemade "wits" allowed to evade of this world and living in unexpected places thanks to shortwave.
</p>
<p align=justify>
Playing among the brothers was something usual, we were in those when, thanks to an Atlas [if I remember correctly printed by the Editorial América] that one day my father brought us from Granada, we were able to open our eyes thanks to its colorful pages that still endure although, it is logical to say, totally outdated in the face of the dizzying changes experienced by the world in the last three quarters of a century. The game consisted of looking for a place name, writing it on a piece of paper and ¡hala, to look for it! It was a rewarding way to learn geography and to dream.
We can infer that that entertainment, quite innocent, had a practical utility that has accompanied me all my life; perhaps that's where my passion for travel, islands and planetary geography come from. The island lands were, for many years, regular content of the best philatelic magazine that this country had until, Philatelic Chronicle, disappeared from the market and we were orphaned by a political decision.
</p>
<p align=justify>
I think that in this last decade I have visited more islands than ever, especially after retirement, after leaving behind half a century working day after day; today we are going to travel, mentally and philatelically to the Arctic, we will take advantage of the issue that the Norwegian postal service has just put into circulation dedicated to the Bear Island [BJØRNØYA].
</p>
<p align=justify>
The stamps that have taken us to Bear Island were put on sale on March 14, 2024, they represent the Uria aalge [domestic facial for shipments up to 100 grams]; the rock formation of Sylen [facial for everyone and up to 20 grams] and the Hambirg mountain that has a value of 55 crowns.
</p>
<p align=justify>
The broadcast was made by the Dutch firm Joh. Enschede Security Print in sheets of 50 copies printed in offset with a print run of 180.000-155.000-255.000 effects respectively.
</p>
<p align=justify>
The designer, Magnus Rakeng, used the photographs of Steinar Myhr [rock formation] and Venke Ivarrod who made the other two.

</p>
<p align=justify>
The Order of Malta used them for emergency interventions, humanitarian flights, and transportation of the sick to Marian shrines, including Lourdes and Loreto.
</p>
<p align=justify>
Pope Benedict XV declared the Virgin of Loreto, whose house is preserved in the city, the patron saint of the Italian Air Force and protector of all aviators in 1920.
</p>

Following earlier releases of “<b>Ancient Chinese Paintings from the National Palace Museum Postage Stamps</b> — 24 Solar Terms” Autumn on August 3 and Winter on November 3 of 2022, Chunghwa Post has issued the third set of stamps drawn from the Ink Marvels from a Forest of Pearls (Ⅳ) by Zhang Ruoai of the Qing dynasty, a work held in the National Palace Museum. The third set contains six stamps, each valued at NT$8, depicting spring with its six solar terms: Beginning of Spring, Rain Water, Awakening of Insects, Spring Equinox, Fresh Green, and Grain Rain. The six stamps are in a se-tenant block and the shaped perforations are at the center of the long sides of the stamps.
</p>
<p align=justify>
The Ink Marvels from a Forest of Pearls is a collection of large paintings gathered into twelve albums in the time of the Qianlong Emperor. The albums are named after the Twelve Terrestrial Branches, the fourth album being entrusted to Zhang Ruoai, who painted the 24 solar terms and expressed each term by landscape painting. The paintings use the styles of the ancient masters to express the climate, show customary activities and the state of the natural world, and depict the variations proper to the given term.

On 2 April 1982, Argentinian forces invaded the British overseas territory of the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic. The brief but bitter conflict lasted 74 days, during which 649 Argentine troops and 255 British servicemen lost their lives, as did three Falkland Islanders. </p>
<p>
British forces landed on the islands on 21 May. After a series of activities against the Argentinian Army, they began the battle for Stanley, the islands’ capital, on 11 June.
</p>
<p>
The Argentinian forces surrendered on 14 June.

In this 350th Anniversary year of the formation of the <b>Royal Marines</b>, it is appropriate that <b>Gibraltar</b> should issue a stamp to commemorate the close connections and shared history between the City and the Corps.<br />
Originally formed by Charles II on 28 October 1664 for sea service, the Marines played a prominent role in the capture of <b>Gibraltar</b> in 1704. They formed the landing force under command of the Prince George of Hesse-Darmstadt (under the overall command of Admiral Sir George Rooke) that took and held the Rock, in conjunction with Dutch Marines, a bi-national alliance that still exists today. In 1802 George III granted the Marines the style of ‘Royal’ “in consideration of their very meritorious service during the late war.” In 1832 it was decided that the <b>Royal Marines</b> had so many battle honours that the Corps should have the ‘Great Globe itself’ as their distinctive badge, whilst the single honour ‘<b>Gibraltar</b>’ was selected on the Colours as representative of all the others won by the Corps. The connection has continued ever since and in 1996 the <b>Royal Marines</b> were granted the Freedom of the City of Gibraltar.
The Royal Marines are an integral part of the Royal Navy and provide the core of the UK amphibious expeditionary capability. Following the 2nd World War the Corps took on the Commando role and all marines are now commando trained and wear the green beret. Operating in all environments and climates they have particular expertise in arctic, mountain and desert warfare. The major units generated are 3 Commando Brigade, a unit that protects naval assets at home and overseas and the Special Boat Service; indeed the RM provides around half of all UK’s Special Forces. The Corps has been involved in every major operation and war over the last 350 years and in recent years has played a prominent part in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Royal Marines have close international ties with other marine forces, in particular the United States Marine Corps and the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps.

The illustrations are portrayed with the characters of the familiar <b>Nativity</b> Story shown as silhouettes against brightly coloured night skies with each scene helping to emphasise the various messages on the stamps.
<br />
It is believed that Saint Francis of Assisi, inspired by his visit to the birthplace of Jesus, created the first ever <b>nativity</b> scene in 1223. His intention was to place the emphasis on the celebration of the birth of Jesus rather than on the more secular materialism of gift giving.
<br />
The <b>Nativity</b> was held in a cave near Greccio in Italy and was a living one with real people and animals cast in the various Biblical roles. These Pantomimes became hugely popular. Within a hundred years every church in Italy was expected to have a <b>Nativity</b> Scene at Christmastime and they soon spread to churches and homes throughout Christendom.

The <b>Sõru</b> (Sõrro) leading lights are situated on the southeast coast of Hiiumaa at 487 meters from each other. The history of the Sõru lights started about a hundred years ago when numerous timber <b>lighthouses</b> and day lights were put up, including the first lights to mark the shipping route from Väinameri to Sõru port. After World War One restoration of the <b>lighthouses</b> that had suffered in the war was begun and the two new Sõru <b>lighthouses </b>were completed by 1934.
<br />
<br />
Then the visibility of the lower light was 12 miles and that of the upper 10 miles. By 1950 both the <b>Sõru lighthouses</b> were painted white at the bottom and red at the top. By today the lights of both the <b>lighthouses</b> have been modernized and the visibility of the lower Sõru light is six miles, the height of the light from the ground 13 meters and 11 meters from the base. The visibility of the <b>Sõru</b> upper light is six miles is as follows: white six miles, red and green three miles; the height of the light from the ground is 18 meters and 16 meters from the base. In 2014 the Sõru leading lights will be 80 years old.
